Presentation

"The task is to complete the narrative describing the focused perspective of the topic and to prepare to present the new learning to the intended audience."
(C. C. Kuhlthau, 1997 para .24)

ISP Stage

Students complete their search and prepare to present or use the information. They prepare the narrative for the intended audience and work through challenges with regard to finding a format to present their deeper knowledge of the inquiry.  Often students will require instruction in the communication of their ideas (Kuhlthau 2004; Kuhlthau, Maniotes & Caspari 2007).

Year 6 History Inquiry

The culmination of the inquiry process, where the learning is prepared to share with others. This could be in many formats that meet ACH achievement standards including digital story, timeline, interview, or narrative.  Some teaching and learning on how to use these tools effectively will be useful.

ISP and WEB 2.0 in the classroom

At this stage students work on collating and presenting their information to their intended audience.  Students may choose an online tool such as Prezi to create a slide style presentation, Glogster for an interactive chart, Dipity or Timetoast for an interactive timeline, or they may choose an offline method such as a PowerPoint presentation or Photostory. The teacher’s role would be to support the student in creating their presentation; they may work with the student or class on one tool for presenting. Often teachers may shy away from using online tools due to their own unfamiliarity with these. However there are numerous ‘how to’ style videos on sites such as You Tube or Teacher Tube that could be accessed by the teacher and shared with their students. Being the digital natives that today’s students are it is not necessary for the teacher to be the expert in using such tools, the students will happily teach each other and the teacher!
